    Default SCDNR / Turkey Survey

July 1 to August 29 will be volunteering a survey with the ( SCDNR ) Summer Turkey and Quail .
Each year it has been a pleasure to see what everyone is seeing in their Game Zones.
Again feel free to post what you are seeing and try not to record same group twice.
If you have trail cams out post pictures.
Last year was a great turn out with forums members posting and the numbers turned out to be successful hunts come spring.

Got a few quail and it is hard to keep count of them. I would say we have 3 or 4 good coveys of 10 - 15 birds each.

3 Hens, 14 poults inside our fence here at work. 4 were no more than a couple weeks old. The other 10 were in the 2 month range IMO.

Just now saw this thread so I wasn't on the alert to count, but the last two weekends driving up (and back) to my parents along the "river road" that parallels Broad River (Pomaria to Maybinton to Carlisle) I have seen MANY, MANY turkeys! Actually saw one hen with about 8 half grown poults, and a couple other hens with a few poults each. Yesterday saw a "herd" of about 7 jakes, and numerous other jakes & hens. I would say the turkeys are going quite well, despite what I had thought earlier that the coyotes were working on them pretty good. Maybe the birds have adapted and have learned a few tricks to evade them better?
