    I like bear compound bows , I shoot a gameover but looking at getting an assault or carnage in the next few months . I don't like a lot of the newer models , they may fast but most of them are ugly designs , lol .
    ....... oops , sorry didn't notice that this was about recurves and I cant delete it . I don't have enough confidence to use a recurve , I have a hard enough time shooting something with a compound .

    Been shooting and hunting with a Widow PSA for quite a while now. Gearing up to try and build my own bow. Hope I can build one worthy of hunting with.

    Old 55# shakespeare necedah, cedar shafts and a big single bevel two blade. Poundage isn't your problem. Are you getting complete pass-throughs' with your compound when you shoot them in the shoulder? 65# is more than enough for moose let alone deer, maybe shot placement or broadhead choice is the problem and not poundage.
