Default Biggest Hog I've Ever Killed

Killed this hog a few nights ago on my buddies property. It's the biggest one I've ever personally seen. Really excited about it, getting a shoulder mount

Congratulations! Personally I have never hunted hogs but I would like to. I have taken many deer and processed them myself. What do you do with something that big. Are they edible? Can you process it yourself?

I have processed hogs myself but with the bigger ones I like to take them to a processor to get made into sausage because I have never made sausage before. I've found that the bigger boars don't taste as good but you can't tell as much of a difference when it's sausage. That hog smelled terrible though and had deep wounds and disgusting fluid type stuff in the wounds when I began to skin it though, so we didn't eat it. First hog I've ever killed and not eaten.

if he smelled rank chances are good he will taste rank. Sometimes those wounds don't go deep enough to get to muscle. One that size may be more than 2"+ to the meat through the shield and fat.

Most 300lbs boars have been "cut" or have a readily food source nearby to consume the calories to maintain that weight. It is difficult for a free ranging boar to chase sows and root enough to maintain 300lbs.

An uncut boar reaching 300lbs needs to be mounted, imo.
