Default So I killed a deer

Sitting in a big oak tree, about 30 yards inside the woods from a fresh cut bean field and where a couple of thin strips of woods join a larger section of woods. Heard some noise behind me and turned to see a doe and her twins coming up the dry creek bed. Following them was a spike or forkhorn and following the spike/forkorn was a 3 1/2 year old 8 point. The 8 point locked antlers with the spike and shoved him off and followed the same path as the doe up into the woods from the creek I was about to turn back around but I saw one more deer coming. I looked in the binoculars and saw good mass and a ton of points. He stopped and got ready to go up the creek bank and that's when the guy in the oak tree sent an arrow at 31 yards. Hit looked good and I thought I saw him go down but I was confused because immediately after I saw a deer milling around where I thought he went down. I eventually determined it was the spike investigating his fallen comrade. I had made a nice shot, hitting a lung and clipping the top of the heart.2017 buck kill 2.jpg2017 buck kill.jpg

muledeer, my comment was being directed to BONECRUSHER since he was inquiring about which SC county you killed that buck in. No way was I criticizing you, since I've been around long enough to know that you have to go wherever you get sent.

Archery starts on the 17th of September and last until December 31st. There is a a rifle season from 28 Nov-8 Dec and a two day antlerless rifle season in October. I've always killed my buck here during archery, last week of Oct or early Nov.
