I shoot all the normal ones, this thread is about different calibers, not the "usual popular" ones.

Some day I may try out my Winchester lever 38-40 or my Remington pump 32-20.

I agree you definitely don't need a "300" something or another to kill a whitetail deer but there aren't different degrees of dead. Dead is dead.

Interested in those shooting the lever action rifles.
I have a Marlin lever action rifle that I have hunted for the past 5 years and love it. It is in 308 caliber- yes 308 that is right and I think the model is 308MX. Hornady makes a bullet especially for lever action rifles called leverevolution and I use the 160 gr with much success. I would recommend you look at that as the 308 will drop them in their tracks. The bullet is called 308 marlin express. awesome combo!

almost exclusively with a 45/70 of one flavor or another. Ruger no1, Sharps, or marlin. Hoping to add a contender pistol barrel in 45/70 to the herd for next year

Picked up a 6.5 creedmoor a month or so ago. No chance on deer this year but that gives me all year to load up a good hunting round for it. Thinking about picking up a .450 bushmaster to take to Ohio with me in the fall.
