Default Coyote took the trap with it

Went to check my traps today and as I'm coming around the corner of the logging road I could smell a coyote in my first trap. Get to the trap and there is a catch circle and a big hole where the trap was, but no trap and no coyote. The cable stake was still in the ground good, but apparently the quick link had unscrewed just enough to let the trap chain slide out. It was a new connector and I thought I tightened it good enough. Any of you had this happen?

No I use cables and crimps. Only use quick links with my dog proofs and even those worry me sometimes. What kinda trap did u lose?

It was a duke 1 3/4 trap. Cheap one thankfully. I didn't think one could unscrew. I guess it got in a position where every pull turned it a little.

Man I haven't looked back since I started making my own cable stakes. I was just pounding the stops flat with a hammer and anvil but I bought a smaller swager and crimp them now
