Anyone tried the alliant black mz powder? Supposed to be like bh209 but can be ignited by a sidelock. Was at sportsmans warehouse in anderson and they had it for $9.99 a pound. Figured for that price id give it a try

Tried it today in my tc sidelock. Shot it 6 or 7 times with patched ball. Loaded easy, actually little more smoke than pyrodex to me. Cleaned real real easy. Shot nice groups too. Mighty cheap and works good.

Black MZ is nothing like BH 209, actually, there's nothing like BH 209. Blackhorn 209 is the cleanest burning, highest energy black powder substitute you can buy. Could have something to do with the nitro-cellulose base. With that being said, anything with a nitro-glycerin or nitro-cellulose base, such as BH 209 is not legal for use during Primitive weapon season..
1 John 5..He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
