Twist Rate

Bought an older,pre accutrigger, Savage model 12 in 223. Its the 26 inch heavy barreled model.Blued with a plastic stock.I had one of these in 308 back in the 90s when they first came out and cost about $300. new.Most accurate long range rifle I ever had.I am trying to find the twist rate in this 223 to see what bullet weights to try.If I cant find out I guess I can use the tight patch/cleaning rod method.

Best way to know for sure. I use a brass brush from chamber to muzzle.

If its the factory barrel you could probably contact Savage with the serial number on the receiver and find out more about the barrel they used.
