Default Finally got him! Mature Buck with bow

After moving to SC several years ago, it has taken some getting used to hunting here. I have been passing smaller bucks with the goal of only taking bucks at least 4.5 years old, but had not taken anything mature yet. I have been getting pics of this buck since he was 3.5, and he should be 6.5 this year. He was a urban deer, I got trail cam pics of him every year in my backyard on Main Street right in town, and also on my hunting property 3/4 mile away outside of city limits. He was pretty much a ghost, only get a few pics of him every year, very rarely in daylight. Finally last week he walked in at 9:30 in the morning, and the rest is history. I also met a personal goal of getting the shot on film.

He actually ran back into town when I shot him, and I had to knock on about 4 different doors to follow the blood trail through their yards. I really thought someone would haul off with him before I could recover him, but thankfully everyone was very kind and considerate, and I had no problems.

I love it!!!! You can hear the adrenaline you were feeling as you drew the bow (might want to get some silencers for your arrow rest...JK). That's awesome! Congrats!!

Haha, I noticed the arrow noise as well! I've never noticed it when practicing, I think it's because my camera was about 6" from my bow while I was drawing

I'll bet your adrenaline isn't flowing and your heart isn't pounding like that when you're practicing either. Lol! I'm sure mic placement had something to do with it too though. I also loved the exhale at the end. That's typically when I have to sit down because my knees start shaking so bad. Ha!

Good job. It's hard to kill a good mature buck with a bow here in SC.
