How can you tell its the same hog ? Did you skin him out and find the placement of the other 2 shots ? It would be neat to see pictures. If it took 4 rounds to put him down, I would be carrying a different rifle. Is that the correct range ? 5 yards ?

    I don't understand why you don't shoot a larger caliber...……………………..

If I had a hog charge me, I would change something,,,,, (Besides my laundry)

I have dropped close to 200 hogs with the 223. Shot placement was the problem. I will boil the skull and look for evidence but this hog was seen from same stand two weeks apart. Hogs don't react like that so I am certain it was the same hog from reactions alone. I have taken hundreds of hogs and most run for cover when hit. You don't have to believe it, but I sure do.

Dropped....and run for cover.... are 2 totally different endings. Looked like the first encounter was 2 facing forward shots, second encounter was from the right side and still took 2 shots. The pictures of prior injury would be a lot more convincing than gauging a physical reaction from a shot up animal. Your choice and your business/ safety, have at it. Was was the distance of the shot ? It surely was farther than the 5 yard reading. Be safe.
