Default A. U. Robin Crimson Clover

Last year I noticed that my Honey Bees really liked my Dixie Reseeding Crimson Clover. Last fall I planted about an acre of A. U. Robin Crimson Clover. This was developed as an early maturing variety. I had about a dozen blooms opened today on the A. U. Robin. No sign of any blooms in the Dixie Reseeding plot. It also appears that the plants themselves are taller then the Dixie. The deer like both varieties about the same. The extra early blooms will prolong the length of time that the bees will be able to work crimson clover.

A.U. Robin has finished blooming. I still have at least another week of blooms on Dixie Reseeding. White Cloud, a white blooming selection of Dixie Reseeding still has a few blooms coming along. My bees worked all of it pretty hard. Clover pollen is kinda charcoal grey in color. Some of the hive frames are packed with it.

Nice. Wish I could get some white clover to grow like that.
