Sometimes it gets complicated... find yourself staring at them all trying to decide what to go with.... hmm, this one.... no this one...

Not really. I don't use "bean field" rifles in the swamps and thick woods. For ex. I took my 280 this evening because a long shot could have presented itself. In the morning I'll be hunting up close and personal so my 444 will be with me. And I like variations. Same with shotguns.

That cost me a nice buck a few years ago. I took a 30/30 to hunt a 150ac cut down. I tried to stretch that thing out, but missed with two shots. Would have been a chip shot for my .270, .308, or even .243.

My wrong caliber choices are usually from hunting with a short range handgun and seeing something to shoot at rifle only distances.

I seldom, if ever hunt with anything other than one or the other of my two .308s now that I no longer hunt with dogs and don't use a shotgun.
In my lifetime I've killed well over 450 deer, and in the last 15 years I've probably killed at least 100 with one of those .308s.
