For many years I took a 22' foot offshore and even 100miles one time, but I did have twin 90 Evinrudes on it. I always went when the forecast was 3' or less. Didn't always stay that way but we survived many trips together. I don't believe I would go offshore unless I had a buddy boat following. I don't like the idea of no backup.

Bay boats aren't made for rough water. It would depend on the weather, and how fast I could out run rough weather if it comes up.

Thanks guys. I was really hoping to get up to 10miles. Weather permits. And maybe get balls enough to go to gulf on a calm day. Mostly around jetties and 2 mile reefs.
